BRAD FYFFE
Our local ambassador of Aloha, Brad hails from the Big Island of Hawaii. Fluent in all things Hawaiian – stand up is a natural deal for him. He is our surfing guru and has been known to charge into Waimea Bay and dropped in on some of the heaviest waves in Hawaii. Why leave paradise for the South Bay? We are actually not sure – but we are glad he ended up with us. He is a GREAT SUP Surfer and is one of our shop’s surfing experts. Being a multi tasker, he is also our primary instructor offering both SUPCORE ® classes, Private and Group Lessons as well as leads our excursions. If you have a nice smile, he will also take your picture- he is a great photographer who has had work published by some of the surf magazines.
Chris is born and raised here in South Bay having surfed most of his life, he fell into stand up and never looked back. Chris runs a little production company, Soul Surf Media,(when we say little, we mean little – it’s just him) that has been shooting and working in the SUP industry for many years. We wonder how it’s possible that a guy that cries at weddings could make it through the Catalina 50, The Catalina Marathon, and Stand Up Paddle the Rock 2 Rock (Isthmus to San Pedro)? He is the proud parent of a custom 14′ Joe Bark that he treats as if it were his first born as well as a custom 14′ prone board. Having paddled the channel, he has the knowledge and experience in distance to help with all facets of the equipment you need to do longer paddles. Plus, did we mention he is an award winning director?
More then just the son of Joe Bark, Jack is a formidable force in the water – he has been known to bodysurf when it’s 40 degrees outside, pull a couple airs on his surfboard and was the part of the winning relay team with Mikey Cote in the 2011 Molokai 2 Oahu Paddleboard World Championships. By 18 – Jack has already run a couple marathons, the Catalina 50, prone paddled the Catalina channel more times than you can count on two hands, and paddled the Molokai channel with a former Molokai Champion. If all of that was not enough he can quote the movie North Shore verbatim , has an appreciation for waffles and milkshakes and probably knows more about board design and distance paddling then people twice his age. Jack’s also a Maui Jim ambassador, a Quickblade team rider, a Vertera team rider, as well as a team rider for Hurley and of course- Bark Paddleboards.
MARK McCULLOUGH
Mark’s love affair with stand up is only a couple of years old but he knows it’s gonna last a lifetime. Looking for a new way to keep fit while enjoying the ocean stand up has had a profound impact on his life. Mark has been in the South Bay since 1999 – and it’s doubtful he will ever leave. When not on his morning paddles, you can find him enjoying the beach lifestyle. He bikes the strand, dabbles in yoga and loves chuckin’ a Frisbee on the sand & in the surf. Mark is our resident dolphin whisperer. Every time he heads out, he comes back to the shop and says the same thing “man, there were a ton of dolphins out there”.
SUPCORE ® Academy Certified Instructors
The SUPCORE ® instructors make us in the shop look like tubs of goo. These people are SERIOUSLY fit and they want you to be fit as well. We have been really lucky to partner with SUPCORE ® Academy to bring in a group of dedicated fitness professionals who want to help our customers get the most out of stand up paddling and training.
As mentioned above, our own Brad Fyffe went through the certification process and in addition to Brad we are so happy to have these lovely ladies available to help with SUPCORE ® as well as private and group lessons
