They are here! the new Bark Lairds are here at Tarsan, one lucky customer got himself BOTH the 12’6 and 14′. I was actually on a trip with the Bark team and saw the 12’6 in action. John Becker took it round trip across the Catalina Channel (as well as ran a marathon – yea, nuts) and the board flies. It catches bumps really nicely and I was impressed to see a 12’6″ handle that distance with relative comfort. Coming home, the board was in quartering wind but John never fell off it and kept it right on course picking up some small bumps along the way. At 30″ wide it is stable, fast and will be a force to be reckoned with this race reason. The pics here are of the 14′ that I was fortunate enough to paddle at Outdoor retailer. I have a custom Bark 14′ and the the Laird/Bark 14′ felt faster in flat water. It is super stable since it is made for stability – the theory is that if you are stable you can focus on paddling without fighting the board and conditions.
Here are some pics of the 14′ we had in the shop – there are more on the way! – Happy paddling – Chris
